Secondary Textbooks
Parents can purchase subject/course textbooks directly from the bookstore or online supplier of their preference. It is crucial that students obtain their textbooks prior to the commencement of the school year as it will aid in their academic progress and provide them with the necessary support required for effective learning.

(Please note that the list contains textbooks for other year groups, so please refer to column C “Year Level(s)” to ensure that you are selecting the correct books).
Students going into Year 7
There is no Mathematics textbook for Year 7.
There is no Science textbook for Year 7.
There is no Spanish textbook for Year 7.
Students taking Chinese Language and Literature do not need to buy a textbook.
Students taking Chinese Language Acquisition need to buy the correct level of textbook (and workbook if required) depending on which phase they are in.
Parents of students currently in Year 6 will receive a separate communication stating which Chinese textbook should be purchased for each student.
Students going into Year 8

All students need to buy the same textbook for Mathematics.
There is no Science textbook for Year 10.

Students taking Chinese Language Acquisition need to buy the correct level of textbook (and workbook if required) depending on which phase they are in.
Parents of students currently in Year 9 will receive a separate communication from their child’s current Chinese teacher, stating which Chinese textbook should be purchased.
Students going into Year 11
Students taking Standard Maths need to purchase the new textbook indicated (Mathematics Core Topics SL).
Students taking Extended Maths need to purchase the new textbook indicated (Mathematics Core Topics HL).
There is no Science textbook for Year 11.
There is no Spanish textbook for Year 11.

Students going into Year 12
Students need to buy all the books for the subjects and levels (Higher or Standard) that they have chosen to study. All students and parents are aware of what option choices have been made.

The purchase of books for English will be organised through the English department when texts have been decided upon. The choice of texts will depend on the interests and needs of each class.
Students taking Business Management, Economics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Systems and Societies will use the online resource provided by Kognity. The cost of this resource is approximately $550 per subject per year. The cost will be deducted from your child’s eWallet account around the end of September. Any student who changes out of the subject before Friday 13 September will not be charged the fee. Any student who moves into the subject after that date will be charged the fee. Students taking Economics will also need to purchase the Quantitative Skills Workbook
Students going into Year 13
Books used in Year 12 will continue to be used in Year 13.

Any student who moves into the subject after that date will be charged the fee.
New students starting in August 2024
It may not be possible to place new students in the correct level for Chinese until they arrive in the school.
If unsure what books to buy, it is better to wait until August before ordering.
