Wednesday 5 November 5:30-6:30 pm (Y12-13 Learning Pathways overview)
There will be an overview of the IB Diploma Programme, the IB Diploma Courses Programme and the IB Career-related Programme pathways presented to the Year 11 students by the respective Coordinators, Michael Glavanis and Raina Zhaparova.
Monday 17 November – Friday 5 Dec (CP Information sessions and Taster lessons)
Providers of Career-related studies will hold information sessions and taster lessons either online or on site between the 17th of November and the 5th of December, to help students understand the nature of the course, its content and assessment, and support students in making informed decisions about their course selections. Detailed information on information session time and venue will be shared later for the sign-up.
Monday 17 November – Friday 21 November (DP/DP Courses Information Sessions)
To help provide subject insight, subject teachers will offer information sessions about DP subjects during normal lesson time. Y11 students are encouraged to engage and enquire about the nature and structure of DP subjects.
Tuesday 9 December - DP/CP Subject Fair
This will be an informative session run by our current Year 13s.
Monday 5 January - Friday 16 January (DP Taster lessons and CP Information Sessions)
Each department/discipline/subject finds opportunities during lunchtime sessions to provide taster lessons to interested students about choices within their area. Teachers can make DP guides available to students, and also find time to discuss options with particular students. CP Coordinator Raina Zhaparova will provide information sessions about the Career-related Programme.
Thursday 15 January 6.30-8.30 pm (Subject Selection Evening for Parents and Students)
Michael Glavanis (DP Coordinator), Raina Zhaparova (CP Coordinator) and the HEO team (Susie Blomfield and Terence Man) will lead a subject selection information evening for Y11 parents and students.
In the first part of the evening between 6.30-7.30pm, HoDs and teachers will answer questions from students and parents in various classrooms, regarding the courses currently offered at the College.
In the second part of the evening, between 7.30-8.30pm, parents and students will go to the theatre for a presentation detailing information regarding Year 12 Pathways and how to complete the subject selection process. Detailed Career-related Pathway information will also be shared by Raina Zhaparova. Lydia Naivalu is available to discuss possibilities for high-performance student athletes. The Higher Education Team will present key information on their role in supporting students in finding the right Higher Education pathways for them.
Monday 19 January - Friday 23 January (Subject Selection Temperature check)
Students will indicate their draft subject selections by Jan 23rd. The purpose of gathering the data is to identify any significant misalignment between a student's capabilities and their chosen courses, informing supportive 3-way conversions with the DP and CP Programme Coordinators and HEO team. This data, along with the Semester 1 data will provide valuable information on whether the students chosen subjects align with their capability and capacity.
The month of February (Data informed, supportive conversations with students)
Semester 1 data will provide valuable assessment data to help inform better conversations between students, parents, subject teachers and Learning Advisors. This along with the ARR data for Semester 1 can be used to support conversations between students, Learning Advisors, subject teachers and parents. The goal is to help guide students towards their areas of strength and interest, which will set them up for success in their chosen pathway.
Monday 9 February – Friday 13 February (Final Submission of Subject options)
Students submit completed options forms. This is a firm and final deadline.
Monday 24 February – Friday 14 March (Follow-up conversations as needed)
Will Hurtado/Raina Zhaparova and Susie/Terence counsel students of concern along with parents, e.g. unusual choices, alternative programmes, and specific requirements for higher education/careers.
Friday 13 March (Timetabling)
Final option blocks and staffing are determined by the Senior Leadership Team.
