DC Parent Information Fair - NEW DATE
PARENTS - PLEASE COME ALONG, NO NEED TO REGISTER OR RE-REGISTER. This event is an opportunity for parents to visit the campus and meet with teachers and others to find out about their child’s learning and how best to support it.

About the event
This DC Parent Information Fair covers all information parents will need to start the year and understand basic processes and systems they will encounter. It is an opportunity to build community and establish early connections and relationships with your child’s teachers. Please review the session descriptions and schedule below. Locations, timetables and maps will be provided on the night.
*Note that some sessions are offered more than once; the content is the same in each.
We encourage all parents to attend and ask that you register for this event, but please note that your response in the registration form does not commit you to your choice; we are taking an indication of attendance so as to manage numbers / venues and ensure staffing is planned appropriately to support each session.

WHOLE COLLEGE
College Updates - 17.45 - 18.30
This session is an opportunity for the Principal and other senior leaders to share, and engage parents in discussion about, important strategic developments at the College:
- An introduction to the DC Outcomes
- Quality Assurance
- Curriculum development, with a focus on Chinese Learning
Higher Education - 18.45 - 19.30
In this session the Higher Education Counsellors will explain the role of the Higher Education Office (HEO) and the relevant systems and procedures used to support students in preparing for their next steps after graduating from Discovery College.
Whole School Booths - 16.00 - 18.00
Please note the whole school booths will be spread across two locations.

Primary Year Level Information Sessions
This is an opportunity to find out about year-level learning programmes, key events, No Boundaries and other key information, from staff working with your child’s year level.

Single Subject / Specialist Information Booths
Booths will be set up for Student Counsellors, Music, Drama, Visual Art, PE, Library / Information Literacy, and Chinese. Teachers will share their curriculum and be available to answer questions.

SECONDARY
Meet Your Child’s Learning Advisor - 16.00 - 16.20
This is an opportunity to meet your child’s Learning Advisor who will cover the following key points:
- The purpose of Learning Teams
- The role of the Learning Advisor
- 1:1 Coaching Conversations
- DC Secondary Wellbeing Programme
- Audience: All Secondary families
Meet Your Child's Teachers - 16.30 - 17.30
This is an opportunity to visit key learning spaces and to meet your child’s teachers along the way. There will be an opportunity to say hello and to establish an early connection with each teacher supporting your child this year. There may also be the opportunity to find out more about the topics being covered in each subject and how they will be assessed.
**Please note that feedback on your child’s progress will not occur during this time but will take place through the 3-Way-Conferences on October 16 and 19.
Audience: All Year 7 - 13 parents, especially those new to Secondary and/or to DC
Middle Years Programme (MYP) Stop and Chat - 16.30 - 17.00
This session is an opportunity for MYP parents to connect with our MYP Curriculum Coordinator. This is an ad hoc question and answer session about the Middle Years Programme (Year 7-11). Parents will have the chance to ask general questions about the MYP curriculum and to learn more about the learning experiences that our students are exposed to.
Audience: Year 7 - 11 parents
Diploma Programme (DP) and Career- related Programme (CP) Stop and Chat - Community Connect - 17.00 - 17.30
This session is an opportunity for IBDP and IBCP parents to connect with our respective Programme Coordinators. The purpose is to engage in an informal 'question and answer' session about the IBDP and IBCP, focusing on programme structure, curriculum and what the lived experience is like for students taking the respective programmes.
Audience: There will be a focus on students in Year 12; all parents are welcome.
Year 7 Coffee Corner - 17.45 - 18.30 & 18.45- 19.15
This is an opportunity for Year 7 families to drop by to meet the Head of Secondary and Deputy Head of Secondary, During this time you may wish to ask questions or simply stop by to say hello.
