About the event
At school we believe that the development of the whole child is a vital component of a student’s education. While the academic aspects of school life often garner more attention, we believe that a crucial prerequisite for academic achievement is a safe and caring school environment in which students can take risks and extend their thinking in order to reach their maximum potential. In order to achieve this goal, we have adopted core resources, such as Positive Discipline, to meet the needs of our students.
Positive Discipline is a parenting program designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful, and resourceful members of their communities. Based on the best-selling Positive Discipline parenting books by Dr. Jane Nelsen, the program teaches important social and life skills in a manner that is deeply respectful and encouraging for both children and adults. Parenting with Positive Discipline means kind and firm at the same time, which is effective long-term and helps children feel a connection - a sense of belonging and significance.
For more information, please watch the following video about The Five Criteria for Positive Discipline with Parenting Expert Dr. Jane Nelsen.
We have a number of Positive Discipline resources in our library and we will also be hosting a series of workshops during this month.
If you’re open to adding more strategies and tools to your parenting toolbox, please sign up to our upcoming Positive Discipline Parenting Course. This course is designed to give parents the opportunity to learn the underlying motivations of children’s behaviour and some of the best practices for responding to that behaviour. Have some fun while learning new discipline tools to build your child’s self-esteem, self-discipline, problem solving, and essential life skills that will last.
