Academic Integrity Policy

Academic Integrity Policy

At Discovery College we are committed to academic integrity. The International Baccalaureate defines academic integrity as “a guiding principle in education and a choice to act in a responsible way whereby others can have trust in us as individuals. It is the foundation for ethical decision-making and behaviour in the production of legitimate, authentic and honest scholarly work” (IBO, 2019). At Discovery College we believe that ALL stakeholders should understand the responsibilities that this commitment embraces. From Years 1-13, students are encouraged to consume, curate and create a variety of forms of media with honesty and integrity. Beginning in primary, students will develop a strong foundational understanding of the concept of academic integrity.

The purpose of this policy is to outline what academic integrity means, provide guidance and support in meeting the academic integrity expectations, and the College’s procedural responses to instances where the expectations of academic integrity are not met.

A downloadable copy of the policy is available here.
