General Information.
No Boundaries 2026 Programme Dates
Beyond Hong Kong Programme (Year 8-12)
Please read the explanation of the travel document entry requirements, safety measures, device policy, and cost before proceeding. By signing up for a trip beyond Hong Kong and paying the initial deposit, you are acknowledging these requirements.
Travel Document and Entry (Visa) Requirements
It is the family's responsibility to check that the students has the following in place prior to departure:
-
Passport validity must be atleast SIX months from the date of departure
-
[For travellers to China] Mainland Return Card or China Travel Card must be valid minimum of until the return date to Hong Kong
-
Entry requirements for the destination country : It may mean that you need to apply for a visa (if required). Some cases will require an e-visa or an ordinary paper/sticker visa. The requirements may vary depending on the passport holder's nationality.
-
Valid HK Identity Card (HKID) - in Hong Kong, any person aged 11 or older must have an HKID. This is a required document for your child to return to Hong Kong.
Please check and review very carefully, allowing sufficient time to renew the required travel document and/or to complete the visa and HK Identity Card (HKID) application process. Do not leave the paperwork application to the last minute, as this could lead to the student not being able to travel.
If travel document validity or visa requirements are not met, your child will be refused boarding by the airline at the airport or denied entry by immigration. Unfortunately, this is a situation beyond the College’s control, and we may not be able to help - you may need to pick up your child from where they are.
Device Policy
There is no requirement to bring electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, or laptops. They may pose safety risks to our students and the people around them. Through experiential learning, we aim to promote teamwork and social interaction, encourage in-person communication, and foster full presence in the moment. Students may wish to bring a digital camera, but staff will take and share photographs throughout the trip.
We adopt the 'no news is good news' approach. Our students travel with the DC staff and staff from an external provider who have been background-checked in accordance with the ESF requirements. Rest assured that all staff are well-prepared to look after the students during the trip, and every staff member who interacts with our students has undergone a background check.
Safety Measures
On every Beyond Hong Kong trip, we follow ESF's strict guidelines for the student-to-staff ratio. Students are supervised at a ratio of 1:12 by DC staff. In addition, we have professionals from the service provider with whom we have been working for the last few years. They know the local situation well and have prepared an itinerary suitable for our students. Every activity and venue in the itinerary is risk-assessed and discussed prior to the student's arrival. Any higher-risk activities like caving, kayaking etc are supervised at lower ratios for safety.
Students and staff are covered under Zurich travel group insurance. There is no need for parents to purchase individual travel insurance for their children during the trip. In addition, we engage International SOS which oversees every trip and activity. They support us with risk assessments in the early stages of planning and provide guidance on any issues relevant to the locations we visit. Their extensive doctor network and security experts are available 24 hours a day, ready anytime we need medical advice and support. They can liaise with medical experts in the local area, provide advice on where to go and what to do if we have any issues, and if necessary, coordinate the evacuation of individuals or teams. We have engaged ISOS for our activities over the last few years, and the level of monitoring, support, and assistance makes us comfortable undertaking travel with our students.
Cost Structure
We are committed to managing the cost of this experience effectively while prioritising student safety.
The cost estimate for each trip is based on prior travel data and current input from our travel agency. Please note that costs are subject to fluctuations due to currency exchange rates, transportation price changes, the final number of participating students and activity fees.
For safety and logistical reasons, we will travel in group bookings. Group bookings, particularly for flights, often result in higher quotes than individual promotional fares found online.
Payment and Refund Policy
Payment will be collected in two instalments.
-
An initial deposit is required to secure transportation, accommodation booking and the programme booking fee with our service providers. Please note that these expenses are non-refundable.
-
The final cost will be re-adjusted and invoiced prior to the final instalment in September 2026.
Withdrawal and Refunds
-
Withdrawal from the trip means the deposit is non-refundable.
-
Depending on the date of withdrawal, a refund of other payments may not be possible. We will, however, make every effort to secure refunds from our providers.
-
Withdrawal from the No Boundaries Programme due to family matters requires approval from the DC Principal or Head of Secondary. Refund requests can only be processed after this approval is received.
-
All refund requests must be submitted in writing by emailing the supervising teacher and cc the No Boundaries admin team at no.boundaries@admin.dc.edu.hk.
-
Refund requests due to medical reasons MUST be accompanied by relevant medical certificates issued by registered doctors. Without a medical certificate, the refund request cannot be processed.
-
The full refund policy for the No Boundaries programme adheres to the Refund Policy for all school trips & activities in the DC Parent and Student Handbook.

Cost Structure
We aim to manage the cost of this trip/activity effectively while maintaining the highest safety standards.
The estimated cost for each programme is based on the previous year's data, a draft itinerary and quotation, anticipated fluctuations such as transportation arrangements and their associated costs, inflation, the number of students who register, and adjustments to the final itinerary. Any excess exceeding HKD100 per student will be returned to parents.
Payment will be made in one instalment to secure the booking of the place and facility with our various providers. Should a student withdraw from the programme, a refund can be requested. While we will actively pursue refunds from our providers, a full refund cannot be guaranteed.

Year groups refer to the next academic year starting in August 2026 to June 2027.

Timeline

Sign Up Procedure & Allocation Process
No Boundaries Week is an essential and mandatory curriculum component of the student learning experience at Discovery College. This experiential programme is vital for developing skills and fostering community spirit. Attendance is required for all students as the week is considered a school day, and the standard absence policy applies just like other normal school days. By enrolling their child at the school, parents commit to upholding this requirement.
Should a student be unable to attend due to compelling circumstances, such as genuine medical or family reasons, the school must be notified as early as possible.
Sign Up Procedure
Before submitting the five programme preferences, students MUST have discussed them with their parents/guardians. The parents/guardians must approve of the choices as ultimately, they will be paying for the experience.
Students and their parents/guardians must ensure:
-
Age range: the option is available for their year group
-
Physical and mental readiness: students are physically fit and mentally ready to do the trip and the activities
-
Affordability: ensure the price range is within the family’s budget
Once students and parents/guardians have agreed on the list of five programme preferences, students submit their program preferences by completing the Experience Selection Google Form (the link will be communicated in the starting week of 16 April) for their year group. Students must log in and use their DC email address.
Every student must select the five preferences for programmes they are genuinely interested in. Yet, we acknowledge that students may want to travel with their friends (travel buddies). Students may choose to prioritise travel buddies and indicate up to 3 friend names; the system will try to match at least one travel buddy. We encourage students to speak with and align with the friends they intend to travel with before submitting the form.
Allocation Process
It is important to recognise that it may not be possible to allocate every student to their first preference. After the sign-up deadline, students will be allocated to one of their five preferred programmes using the DC in-house developed App. The algorithm for the app is developed to take inputs submitted via the form and other factors mentioned below into account in its output processing.
Factors taken into consideration for allocation are (not in a particular order):
-
Priority on program preference or travel buddies' preference
-
Availability of every program
-
Match with at least one of the selected travel buddies (if buddy option is selected)
-
Gender balance
-
Personalisation - e.g justification, learning needs, etc
For this reason, please note that the programme allocation is not first-come, first-served. Please ensure that the other preferences are carefully considered. The activity allocation is not secured/confirmed until the deposit has been paid.
